When is the Best Time to Start Working Out

Are you postponing when to start working out? You keep on waiting for the perfect time. You won’t have extra work, plans with friends, or a romantic getaway with your partner.

Yeah, let me surprise you: there will never be a perfect moment. The best time to start working out is now.

best time start working out

You have a job, family, friends, pet, etc. You have responsibilities, and life happens.

It doesn’t stop, so you can finally start to prioritize your fitness goals.

I know you might think that you have so much going on right now. You don’t have time to go to the gym or do workouts at home.

But there will be no perfect time if you continue to think like that.

Let’s look at a sample timeline:

A year ago, you wanted to start working out. Unfortunately, the gyms were closed. Also, you don’t like bodyweight workouts.

Working out at home was no option for you. You don’t have enough space for dumbbells or a bench.

Six months later, gyms were open, but the summer had just started. You planned a little trip with the girls.

Maybe you can start working out after it.

Then you had that stressful presentation at work.

You turned around, and Thanksgiving was around the corner. Well, a lot of gatherings are coming. Let’s leave the workouts for the New Year.

And the list with excuses goes on and on.

If you continue to think like that, you’ll never start working out or implementing a new habit into your life.

Gaining a new habit is hard work, especially in the beginning.

But when you know why you want this new habit into your life, how it will benefit you, the job is way easier.

Once you know the answers, start making this new habit a priority. Start today, not on Monday, not next month.

Today.

Six steps that will help you start today.

After you've answered the questions above and you’re ready to start today, it’s time to take some action.

Whether it’s to start working out, improve your nutrition, take time for yourself, or even not health-related habits.

Taking action is the thing that most supports your goal.

Plan it.

The first thing to do is to schedule your workouts. See when you have or can take some time for fitness training.

Make sure you have all you need to start today. If you decide to work out at a gym, decide which one you’re going to and make a membership.

If you want to work out at home, make sure you have everything you need: dumbbells, mat, glute bands, etc.

Keep it realistic.

Set realistic goals you can be consistent with within your everyday life.

If you look at your schedule and realize you can work out twice a week, okay. Twice a week is better than no workouts at all.

Don’t aim for perfection but consistency. People that are 10% consistent are more successful than those who want to be perfect. They probably end up never doing it.

Remember: any action is better than no action.

What stopped you from working out so far? Let me know down in the comments.

For a while, I didn’t want to work out. I was feeling insecure at the gym. How did I overcome it? I took action.

Take action to gain confidence.

You won’t gain confidence or figure out how to use gym equipment by staying home. You will figure it out once you start going to the gym.

take action

It’s intimidating in the beginning, for sure.

However, it takes you no more than three sessions to figure it out - just one week!

Plan the exercises you’ll do to make this process easier. Search how to perform them, what machines you have to use. Go prepared.

Success starts with a plan.

Don’t quit.

It is the most significant step. If you only keep on going, you’ll eventually get there. But if you quit, you’ll never finish.

You have to go on a work trip for a week and can’t work out? Okay, you’ll continue working out when you get back.

In a month, you would end up with three weeks you worked out and one you haven’t. When you put things this way, you’re on a roll!

Once again, don’t try to be perfect. If you see you can’t stick to your current schedule every day, switch it up.

Go back to step 1. Plan it all over. But don’t quit. Failure in your fitness journey is only feedback. Learn from it, and keep going.

Set a winning mindset.

Every time you think you fail or there’s no point in your efforts, think of the questions above. Why do you want this new habit in your life, and how it benefits you.

The answers usually lead to somewhat deeper meaning. Something that keeps you going in times when motivation is away.

Celebrate.

You’ve done your first week full of workouts at the gym?

Celebrate it.

Life is about celebrating the little victories. You don’t have a birthday every week.

But you push yourself to become better every day. And this deserves a celebration.

So what are you celebrating this week?
