14 Summer Wellness tips

You might already have a bucket list for the upcoming summer. But have you considered your health on this list?

If you missed it, worry no more. This list of summer wellness tips will give you some healthy ideas you can add to your list.

And you might be surprised that you’ve already thought of some of the suggestions.

#1 Hydration

Good hydration is essential throughout the whole year. But it’s hot out there. You sweat more, so you need to hydrate your body well.

Hydration has many positive impacts on your body:

  • Regulating your body temperature is crucial for the summer heat.

  • Helping to absorb vitamins and minerals.

  • Refreshing your skin.

  • Improving your mood and sleep quality.

Make sure you always carry your filled water bottle with you. Don’t forget it when you’re at the beach.

Summer cocktails are great, but they don’t hydrate you. Always ask the bartender for a glass of water with your cocktail.

You can also make water a refreshing summer drink. Try infusing it with fruits (citruses), veggies (cucumbers), or herbs (rosemary). Experiment and see which flavor appeals most to you.

#2 Nutrition choices

During this season, choose lighter foods full of nutrients to nourish your body without feeling heavy.

Also, summer is a great time to add more fruits and veggies to your diet. Smoothie bowls, anyone?

Your diet impacts how your skin responds to sun rays and how sensitive it is.

Beside colorful fruits and veggies, don’t forget omega-3 healthy fats, other healthy fats like coconut and avocado oil, and foods rich in antioxidants.

As always, prioritize protein-dense foods as they will keep you satiated for longer without making you feel heavy.

#3 Get Vitamin D

A well-balanced diet usually provides you with all the macro and micronutrients your body needs to thrive.

However, vitamin D is the exception to the rule. You can get vitamin D by exposing to direct sunlight.

You can’t get vitamin D from your diet. That’s why it’s important to get it from the beautiful and sunny weather.

Nowadays, people spend most of their lives inside and don’t get enough of this essential micronutrient.

That’s why summer is the perfect time to get more vitamin D, especially if you live in a colder climate.

It’s essential to get enough vitamin D as it can improve your mood, strengthens your immune system, and regulates your blood pressure.

If you’ve thought that your mood is better during the summer, this is the reason why.

#4 Enough rest and sleep

You might have more energy in the summer as the days are longer, the weather is beautiful, and you want to enjoy every moment.

While that’s something you should deeply dive in, don’t forget to prioritize sleep and get adequate rest

Taking time to relax helps you feel more energized and productive and reduces stress.

Summer is also the time for partying. Have a lot of fun but prioritize your sleep routine, too.

Your sleep quality has a vast impact on your mood and overall health. So, make it a priority this summer.

#5 Less TV

Watching TV is the easiest thing you can do for entertainment.

It can be beneficial for you for a while, but too much TV affects your productivity and focus.

This summer, keep the TV off longer and enjoy the moment. The weather out there is beautiful. Your new Netflix favorite series will be available all year long.

Don’t fall victim to the TV, especially in the summertime. There are so many other activities to involve in.

Focus on everything you wanted to do all year long, but you couldn’t because of the weather.

#6 Spend more time outside

Instead of watching TV or being at home on your phone or laptop, go outside.

Try to engage in more activities that bring you close to nature.

For example, gardening is an activity that helps strengthen your connection to the earth. Even if you don’t have a garden, you can make your balcony (or window) a small zen/ green oasis.

nature wellness

Engage in outside activities that bring you close to nature.

Go for a walk in nature, ride a bike, meet with a friend, make a picnic or a bonfire, or go stargazing. There are so many outdoor activities you can enjoy.

Don’t skip on this one.

#7 Prioritize movement

Summer is the perfect moment to add more movement to your routine. There are so many fun outdoor activities.

The easiest thing to do is to walk more. Summer is the ideal time to increase your daily step goal.

Go for a walk in nature, walk to work (if it is a reasonable distance), or look for hikes in your area. You might be surprised at the gems you’re missing.

Other activities you can do are training in an outdoor gym, enrolling in outdoor fitness activities, play an outdoor sport.

#8 Accept your body and be proud of it.

Even though summertime is fun for most people, many still feel pretty anxious about it.

Spending so much time outdoor means you are wearing your summer clothes. And if you haven’t “managed to get your dream summer body”, you might not feel confident.

Stop thinking you have to look a certain way or comparing to others. Your health and fitness journey is unique to you.

Being healthy is a feeling, not an appearance. Don’t fall victim to society’s perceptions of healthy.

Remember: you are much more than your weight. There is no need to judge yourself because of it.

Summer is the perfect time for traveling. Make weekends the time to explore.

There are so many beautiful places you can visit. And it doesn’t have to be expensive.

Here are some tips on how and where to travel without breaking the bank:

  • Go for a weekend getaway that is a few hours drives.

  • Plan a fun road trip.

  • Go camping.

  • Plan ahead of time and get cheaper plane tickets.

  • Organize a trip with more friends to get a better deal on a hotel or Airbnb.

#10 Socialize

Summer is the time to socialize and communicate more with people.

Outdoor gatherings, barbeques, parties, you name it. Spend time with people that make you feel fortunate and high-vibe

#11 Prioritize self-care

Self-care should be your priority throughout the whole year. However, the summer gives you various opportunities for self-care - spending more time in nature and watching the sunset daily.

If you already have a self-care routine, stick to it.

Even though you might have many other things to do, your self-care routine helps you to show up as the best version of yourself.

Stick to your self-care routine even during the summer or a holiday.

Be creative and adaptive to environment change.

A great way to seize the morning is to start by saying or writing affirmations.

Don’t say just any affirmations.

Dig deep and find the ones that currently resonate with you.

#12 Take care of your eyes.

Being in the sun all day long sounds like a dream come true. But it has its risks for your eyes.

Take care of your eyes and protect them with polarized sunglasses

Tip: choose a trendy, high-quality pair of sunglasses that will protect your eyes, and you’d love to take a few selfies for your new IG profile picture.

#13 Choose what to focus on during the fall.

Summertime helps you evaluate your priorities until the end of the year.

See what you’ve accomplished so far and what you can improve. Don’t judge yourself. Nobody is perfect.

Trying to be a little better every day is the solution you need.

Think where you should put your focus during the year, make a plan on how to do it, and stick with it.

#14 Make memories

This last summer wellness tip is the most important one.

Find your way and enjoy this great time of the year.

No matter what you choose to do this summer, make it memorable and make it yours.

Don’t do something just because people tell you to. Do what feels good and aligned with you.

Make memories that will keep you warm during the colder months.

summer memories

Make every moment count. When you look back it’s usually the small ones that matters the most.
